EDWIN Brand History

1947: Mr. Shuji Tsunemi, a denim enthusiast, began importing jeans directly from the United States, as jeans were not yet produced in Japan.
1951: Japan began domestic production of jeans, but the quality was still inferior to US-made jeans.
1961: Mr. Tsunemi created the first EDWIN jeans and established the EDWIN brand in Japan.
1963: EDWIN produced the world's heaviest ringspun denim jeans (16 oz.) with a 3-color rainbow selvedge, which is still used today.
1970's: EDWIN was the first company to invent the "Old Wash" technique to create beautiful fades like vintage jeans, launching it in the 80s, which other brands then emulated. Brad Pitt served as a presenter, bringing novelty to that era.
1980's: EDWIN invented the "Stone Washing" technique, revolutionizing the global denim industry.
1990's: EDWIN created the "New Vintage" concept, replicating the vintage wash of jeans from before 1947.
2003: EDWIN entered Europe and developed special products for the European market.
2012: EDWIN opened its first flagship store in London.
2013: EDWIN expanded to Paris.
2014: Launched the EDWIN Music Channel to support DJs worldwide.
2015: EDWIN opened a store in Berlin.
2021: EDWIN celebrated its 60th anniversary.
2022: EDWIN opened its 4th store in Antwerp, Belgium.
2024: EDWIN opened its 2nd store in Paris.
